As the CRM Institute team based in Istanbul, we organized a professional field visit to iGA Istanbul Airport to gain deeper operational insight into the aviation environment where Crew Resource Management principles were first developed and refined.
During our visit, we had the opportunity to observe several key operational units, including the ARFF Department, the iGA Lounge, and the Terminal Operations Department. This experience provided valuable exposure to real time coordination, communication systems, safety protocols, and team dynamics within a high responsibility operational setting.
For team members without an aviation background, the visit was particularly meaningful. It strengthened their understanding of the origins and real world application of CRM principles, especially in complex, safety critical environments.
